Moustiers Ste Marie sits at the base of a tall rocky cliff. Above Notre Dame de Beauvoir chapel sits perched higher on the cliff face behind the ruins of ancient walls. The village astride a rushing mountain stream divides it in two between a narrow rocky canyon. The tiny gorge, small waterfalls run down inside the village & medieval houses. The sound of the river & fountains through the village, give it the feel of an Alpine village. Moustiers is famous for creating beautiful, faïence ceramics. Then the deepest gorge in France, les Gorges du Verdon, one of the must-see natural wonders of central Provence. Breathtaking circular corniche that runs around the rim of the gorge - this route we drive enabling you to experience spectacular scenery, tiny villages and deep carved valleys dropping down to the river below. The Gorge du Verdon is one of France's finest natural sites. Our circuit starts Moustiers Sainte Marie, anti-clockwise - some 90km, stopping frequently to enjoy the spectacular view. Just before the Tunnels du Fayet & Balcons de la Mescla, cross over the high bridge to return the north side of the canyon back to Moustiers.
