If your a lover of fine wine, want to experience a special day visiting some of the best vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, including Domaine de la Solitude, a family-run estate, cultivated for 600 years by descendants of Pope Urbain VIII and Château Mont Redon a gorgeously placed vineyard set amid hillside vineyards then dine on typical Provençal country food coupled with tasting some of these exceptional wines. Châteauneuf du Pape is the heart of a region full of history, culture and joie de vivre. A magical place that appears on the hill like an island rising out of a sea of vines. At the summit stands the ruined château built by the popes in 14th century as a summer residence to escape the city heat of Avignon. The popes planted the town's first vineyards. On arrival visit the village, museum of wine & one of the smaller producers. During the afternoon a visit to two very different vineyards - first a winemaker with a 8ha vineyard based exclusively on the appellation & second a 43ha family estate owned by five generations of wine producers. We will introduce you to the iconic Châteauneuf du Pape wines established in 1880's that produce wine where tradition is enhanced by modernism & excellence, and a tasting of course. This is an exceptional day out with quite a few surprises along the way.
