Discover Marseille is just a day from the tiny port of Estaque that inspired numerous artists to MuCEM, architect Rudi Ricciotti's 2013 museum masterpiece, centre piece to the cities regeneration, Fort St Jean & the two cathedrals that dominate the old port & city.
Explore the tiny fishing port of L'Estaque at the far northern point of the city. Once a small fishing village that inspired 19th century artists. Next the 19th century tobacco factory at la Belle de Mai, once the the biggest cigar & cigarette factory in France now a cultural centre. Then visit the Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde which dominates the cities skyline and offers a unique insight into this ancient city and a leisurely drive along the corniche back to the old port area and finally MuCEM the first national museum dedicated to the great civilisations of the Mediterranean.
