itinerary 1 - three day road trip from Avignon & Châteauneuf du Pape to discover all the beautiful villages of the Vaucluse, historic Gordes and the abbaye de Sénanque, the French brocante & antique shops of l'Isle sur la Sorgue to the extraordinary Alpilles villages of St Rémy de Provence, Les Baux de Provence & les Carrières des Lumières

Day 1

Drive to Avignon, walking tour of the old town, discover Les Halles food market and be inspired by the flavours and tastes of Provence. Rue des Teinturiers, hidden gem off the main tourist area of the town, guided tour of the Palais des Papes, the largest gothic monument in Europe, once home to the Popes of Avignon. Lunch then a short drive to Châteauneuf du pape, village & castle and on to two excellent vineyards to discover what makes these wines so exceptional, wine tasting and a final visit to a local artisanal chocolate maker with tasting.

Day 2

Drive to the village of Villeneuve Les Avignon and discover the connection with the Popes of Avignon, visit la Chartreuse, an exceptional historic site and arts centre and the Abbey gardens with their sweeping views across the river and the Rhône valley towards Avignon. Lunch and then a short drive to the iconic Vaucluse town of Isle Sur la Sorgue, famed for the brocante and antiques shops. Visit to the hilltop village of Gordes and the magnificent abbaye de Sénanque, synonymous with everything that is Provence.

Day 3

Drive through the Alpilles national park to discover the quintessential Provençal towns and villages of St Rémy de Provence, birthplace of Nostradamus and filled to the brim with beautiful local shops and sample all the flavours of Provence. Lunch and drive on to Les Baux de Provence, medieval village & castle ruins before heading towards the ancient quarry of Carrières des Lumières, to experience the exceptional sound and light show projected on the interior of the once limestone quarry and immerse yourself in art associated with Provence.

Road trip includes:

We pick you up from your hôtel, villa or guest house within a 25km radius of Aix-en-Provence, Avignon & Marseille and return at the end of the day. Driver/guide throughout in air-conditioned Berline or SUV vehicle - fully inclusive. Admission to all historic sites including skip the line.

Meals & refreshments:

Chilled bottled water, light refreshments, fruit and snacks throughout the day. A three course lunch with coffee, half bottle of wine per person at a recommended  local bistro/restaurant each day of the three. 

Highlights:

Visit to the food market in Avignon, guided walking tour of the old town and an        audio guide visit to the Palais des Papes, Pont St Bénezet. Visit to the village of Chteauneuf du Pape & two renowned vineyards, with tastings and visit to an artisan chocolate maker.

Villeneuve les Avignon, visit to the abbey gardens, village & la Chartreuse, historic monument. L'Isle sur la Sorgue, village markets & iconic brocante shops. Hilltop medieval village of Gordes and the world famous l'Abbaye de Sénanque.

itinerary 2 - three day road trip to discover the local markets of Aix-en-Provence, the wine makers of the St Victoire national park, tour of the most picturesque villages of the Luberon, Lourmarin, Cucuron, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Discover Cassis & the colourful bays of the Calanque & the old town & cathedral of Marseille.

Day 1

Imagine starting you day with a visit to explore the extraordinary street food markets of Aix-en-Provence, discover the old town & one of the oldest Provençal food markets. Afterwards a leisurely drive through the St Victoire national park, famed not least as subject of numerous paintings by local artist Paul Cézanne. Visit to two exceptional wineries set against the backdrop of the mountain. Lunch at a vineyard with locally produced food & wine. Simple, but exceptional pleasure on this relaxed gastronomic day out in the Provence countryside.

Day 2

We start the day with a drive through the Petit Luberon mountain range to visit four of the most spectacular and beautiful village of this region. We begin with Lourmarin, famed for it's calm sophistication oozing with tiny shops, art galleries and cafés, everything in fact you image Provence to be. Next stop Curcuron, one of the lesser know villages but central to the olive oil produced in the area. Bonnieux, one of the perched hilltop Luberon villages and Roussillon, known for the abundance of yellow ochre that surrounds this beautiful village. 

Day 3

The old port of Cassis, overlooked by the castle that sits atop the clifftop and the magnificent tall cliffs of Cap Canaille that drop straight into the sea. Charming little fishing port to visit, a boat trip along the coast to explore the Calanque nation park and it's spectacular blue ocean colours. Stop for lunch on the old Portside followed by a visit to a local Bandol wine producer to sample these exceptional & unique local wines. Drive through the park to Marseille, the second and the oldest city in France, visit the ancient Basilique & learn about soap making.

Tour of the Luberon villages to experience, Provençal life - Lourmarin, with it's beautiful shops and castle, Cucuron & Bonnieux and the village of Roussillio,, famed for the bright coloured ochre that surrounds this hilltop village, stop for lunch and a visit to the ochre trail, included.

Scenic drive to the fishing port of Cassis, boat trip to experience the Calanque national park, lunch followed by wine tasting of the Bandol region. Return drive through the national park to Marseille to visit Notre Dame de la Garde, the cities majestic Basilique, walking tour of the old town with a visit to a soap producer.

What's included

The tour price is fully inclusive of dedicated driver/guide throughout your stay, admission fees and skip the lines to any attractions featured, bottled water, morning coffee and snacks throughout the day. Plus a Bistro style restaurant lunch, 3 courses with coffee and wine included each day. 

Pick up locations

You get to choose where we arrange to collect you from; including Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles & Marseille. This also includes a radius of up to 25 kilometres around each location. The price includes collection from your hôtel, chambre d'hôte or villa rental and return at the end of the day.
