Your journey begins in the elegant village of Lourmarin, one of the Luberon's most celebrated destinations. Made famous by Peter Mayle's A Year in Provence, Lourmarin is renowned for its charming cafés, independent boutiques, art galleries, and magnificent Renaissance château. Enjoy time to wander its picturesque streets and experience the relaxed sophistication that makes this village so special.
Continue to the nearby hilltop village of Lauris, a peaceful Provençal gem overlooking the Durance Valley. Stroll through its quiet lanes, admire the beautifully restored château gardens, and soak up the authentic atmosphere before pausing for a leisurely lunch at one of the village's welcoming bistros. After lunch, travel through the scenic countryside to Bastide du Laval, where you'll enjoy a guided visit of this award-winning olive estate. Learn about the production of exceptional extra virgin olive oil before tasting a selection of its acclaimed oils, each expressing the unique character of the Provençal terroir.
Your journey then continues to a carefully selected family-owned vineyard in the Luberon for a cellar visit and guided tasting of elegant regional wines, offering a wonderful introduction to one of Provence's most exciting wine-producing areas.
The day concludes in the delightful village of Cucuron, one of the Luberon's best-kept secrets. Dating back to the 11th century, this beautifully preserved village has retained its authentic Provençal character. Wander its narrow medieval streets, browse artisan boutiques and galleries, and relax beside the iconic tree-lined village basin with a locally made ice cream or coffee while soaking up the gentle rhythm of village life.
By the end of the day, you'll have experienced three distinctly different Luberon villages, each with its own unique charm and history, while discovering the breathtaking landscapes, flavours, and timeless art of living that make Provence so captivating.
Tour itinerary
We will arrive to collect you from your hotel, chambre d'hôte, villa or apartment.
We leave by car first to the beautiful village and castle of Lourmarin, made famous by Peter Mayle's book 'A year in Provence.' Next stop the nearby perched hillside village of Lauris, time to stop for a light lunch at a local village bistro. Next in the direction of Cucuron drive through the village of Cadenet stop & visit to an acclaimed local olive oil producer - Bastide du Laval, visit to the mill and a tasting of a selection of their olive oil.
Then towards Cucuron, stopping off at a local vineyard to enjoy a tasting of some of the excellent wines produced in this region. Finally Cucuron at the heart of the Luberon national park. Walking tour of this 11th century village. From Cucuron return to your hotel or villa.
